Oneof the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He has asnwered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is the formost of all?"  Jesus answered, "The foremost is, "HEAR, O ISRAEL!  THE LORD OUR GOS IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'  "The second is this, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'  There is no other commandment greater than these." Without controversy, the authentic Christian life is based upon two directives given by God: the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

Both are indispensable to the character of a Christian to be in the center of God's perfect will.  Treasuring the Giver of the gift of salvation is part of the conversion package.

The Great Commandment speaks of our identity with God Who speaks of Himself as love.  We are called to be in love with both Jesus and our neighbor.  Without this, we are nothing, and all that we do profits nothing (see Corinthians 13:2-3).

The Great Commission speaks of our calling to bring others into obedience to the Great Commandment.

To obey the Lord, Jesus, we must teach others to love Him.
